By all means, tell us how you really feel

One of the things that helped found and continues to fuel America is the free flow of ideas and the uninhibited expression of them. At North Greenville University, The Skyliner is the students’ outlet for on campus news and opinions.

As is par for the course in a newspaper, you will see columns in this section that discuss a variety of issues every week. This is where we as a staff can cast aside objectivity and write about things we think you, the reader, should be aware of, whether it’s positive, negative, an issue that should be discussed by the general population or just something we think needs to be fixed.

However, contrary to what some may think, this is by no means a one way conversation that allows you to write what you want. We at The Skyliner, as with any other newspaper, have a system in place for a letter to the editor. This allows anyone associated with NGU to give a voice to their concerns through writing. Though we thoroughly enjoy discussing our opinions with you in person, this is a much more efficient method of letting everyone know your opinion.

Keep in mind that even though we love hearing your side of the story, it may or may not be published for a variety of reasons, so please don’t be offended if your opinion doesn’t show up in our next issue. Letters to the editor should also be well written and relevant.

Here at The Skyliner, we have differing political views from very conservative to very liberal, we all pull for different sports teams, and we may even argue with each other over whether plaid can be classified as a color. But that doesn’t mean we have any disrespect toward each other for what one’s opinion might be, no matter how far off base we think he or she is.

So keep the letters to the editor rolling in. Without your thoughts, I’ll end up monopolizing this page, and nobody wants that.
