The North Greenville volleyball team opened its season at a tournament held at Anderson University on Aug. 29-30. The Lady Crusaders played four games in two days coming away with a 1-3 record.
The team came together to get their first win of the season by sweeping Benedict College 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-18). The second win of the season was a well-played game by the Crusaders against Kentucky State University in a tournament hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.
“Our biggest strengths are our teamwork and hard work. Our biggest weakness is that our team is very young and will make mistakes,” second year head coach Lauren Axson said.
The volleyball team has come together this season to compile a 2-7 overall record. This record may leave you wondering how the team is improving from last years four-win season. The team is still developing a new offense while working on areas of the game to make them more competitive.
“Offensively, we are hitting a lot better this year,” Axson said. “We are running a new, quicker offense and moving the ball around more.”
