If you’re a returning student this year, you may have already noticed quite a few changes to the campus layout. Numerous new projects are underway, with several exciting surprises in store over the next several months.

With seven hundred new students this semester, North Greenville is consistently growing into a larger scale university. Students will be pleased to discover the new additions on and around campus.

“Construction has gone smooth,” said Rev. Joe Hayes, Executive Director for Development.

For starters, students and faculty will be able to breathe easier while a professional landscaper plots out areas for twenty six trees and various bushes to be strategically placed throughout campus.

Across from the beautiful North Greenville fountain will be a Carolina First Bank accompanied by a Einstein Bros. bagel shop, where students will be able to use their meal cards. An outdoor patio area with wireless internet access will be connected to the bagel shop.

The upstairs of this brick building is being transformed into new offices and classrooms, including a dark room for photography students.

Next door, at the Rosti Building, which will soon be called Studio at Ole 414, is the art department area. There will be art classrooms and even a store where art students will sell their works.

“It’s really going to be nice and we’re really excited. The students, faculty and community will all enjoy the addition to the community,” said Hayes.

The buildings will be ready for use in October. The old Tigerville Elementary School building will be renovated in January to provide additional classrooms and offices.

“It’s taken a little longer than I thought because of the delays with waiting on permits,” said Hayes. “It’s a real elaborate process, and we’ve had to jump through a lot of hoops to get to where we are now.”

And are you familiar with the big white house with the big porch? It will be transformed into a bed and breakfast where parents can enjoy a relaxing visit.

Exciting plans for next year include an enormous new chapel building, a theater for the performing arts, and a world evangelism center.

The world evangelism center will be an all new state-of-the-art building, created solely for the purpose of preparing students to go on various missions trips. Part of these preparations will allow them to experience the language, food and culture of their destination before getting on the plane.

A prayer room is also in the new building plans. It will be unlocked twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week in order to encourage students to spend more time talking to God.
