Heroes come in many ways. Not every hero is marked with a red cape, bulging muscles and state of the art technology. Often, the hero is the underdog, the kid who dropped out of college and is living from paycheck to paycheck.
Eagle Eye, released on Sept. 26, is a suspenseful thriller based on the unexpected heroism of Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf).
Shaw is a twenty-something underachiever working at a copier store who receives an unexpected phone call along with dozens of boxes filled with military weapons from an unknown source.
The FBI assumes Shaw is a terrorist, so he spends the majority of the movie executing elaborate escapes from agents.
He soon becomes connected with Rachel Holloman, a paralegal desperate to obey the mysterious voice on the other end of the phone in attempts to save her son’s life.
As they risk their lives to obey the high demands of the unknown caller, the two realize that they are involved in the most technical and extensive cyber terrorism plan the United States has ever experienced.
LaBeouf, who just starred in the fourth addition to the Indiana Jones series, demonstrates the experience he has learned on the big screen since Holes in 2003. He delivers a fantastic performance in Eagle Eye and sets the standard high for his co-star Monaghan.
Monaghan, who recently starred in Made of Honor, plays a divorced single parent who is scared to death over the potential threat to her son.
LaBeouf and Monaghan earned 3 1/2 stars for their performances in Eagle Eye.
The movie has enough explosives and chase scenes to draw the attention of anyone who loves action films. A complex and unpredictable plot captivates the audience.
The rising action of the movie leads the viewer to believe that an inevitable tragedy has occurred. Prepare to remain on the edge of your seat as Eagle Eye offers a constant element of surprise and suspends plot resolution until the very last scene.
