For anyone interested in seeing a movie without the inconvenience or expense of leaving campus, the movie nights hosted by student services every weekend in February are the perfect solution.

Movies will be shown in the conference room at 8:00 p.m on Fridays.

Student services began February movie nights on Friday, Feb. 6 with a double feature of Horton Hears a Who and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. More than 20 moviegoers attended the event including students, student services staff and campus security.

The conference room floor was partially cleared to allow students the option of sitting in chairs or reclining on the floor to give the event a casual and relaxed feel. The film was projected on a large screen so that students could view the movie from any part of the room.

Student Services provided popcorn and allowed students to bring their own refreshments as well. February movie nights will continue on Feb. 14 with a showing of Fireproof, a Christian film about marriage and the true meaning of love, in honor of Valentine’s Day.

The next movie night will be on Friday, Feb. 20. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight will be played that night. February movie nights will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 28 with the showing of National Treasure and National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets.

Student Services has organized several other student activities for this month including a ski trip to Wolf Ridge, a ski trip to Cataloochee, two ice skating excursions and a girls’ night out.

The girls’ night out is scheduled for Feb. 13 from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m.

The group for the Wolf Ridge ski trip will leave campus at 3:30 p.m. on Monday Feb. 16.

The first ice skating trip will be at 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 21.

The Cataloochee ski group will leave at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.

The final ice skating trip will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 27.

As these events will end in February, student services is currently planning more events for the rest of the semester. Students are encouraged to participate in the planning process.

“Our goal is to offer many different activities with the hope that we satisfy everyone’s interest at some point….We strive to offer quality activities that students will be interested in and that stay true to the values of North Greenville University,” Diane Turner said.

Students can respond by e-mailing Turner at dfturner@ngu.edu, visiting the Student Services office or looking up the NGU student activities Facebook page. Turner says that Student Services is welcoming any and all suggestions.
