Fix Coffee House is an independent coffee shop that opened on May 2008, and since has provided the Wade Hampton and Greenville areas with a wide selection of coffee, tea, and frozen drinks. Fix also offers an assortment of coffee shop style foods, like bagels or cookies.
Fix’s atmosphere is similar to many other independent coffee shops. However, it does remain distinct from the rest with its two-story, petite, green building. The bottom floor is where you can place your order and features a few tables. The downstairs leads to the upper floor.
The upstairs of the building is where the seating is, though it is not a very feasible amount of spaces due the building’s size. There is also no restroom in sight. The entire building is strewn with local art to give it a familiar feel, and the ceiling is plastered with old vinyls. There are also lots reading materials for lone coffee drinkers.
Fix’s location is great. Located at 101 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Fix is walking distance from Greenville’s main music venue, The Handlebar, and just down the street from downtown Greenville, which is convenient if you ever want to enjoy some coffee before going to a show or if you have to meet some friends downtown.
Fix Coffee House uses Leopard Forest Coffee, which is local, giving it more credit to the fact that it is an independent coffee establishment than most others in the area. The menu features everything your normal coffee shop would, whether it is cappuccino, hot chocolate, fruit smoothie, frozen espresso drinks or just a plain cup of coffee. If you are looking for more than just something to drink, Fix also has an assortment of bagels, muffins, cookies and brownies.
The menu features different sizes for the beverages available. Fix uses their own language to describe a small, medium, and large beverage. In this case, a “Calm” is a 12 ounce cup, a “Buzzed” is a 16 ounce cup and an “Overdosed” is a 20 ounce cup.
With the different sizes comes a different price, which also depends on which type of drink you order. For regular coffee, a “Calm” is $1.25, and the price jumps 25 cents with each larger size. For the espresso beverages, a 16 ounce is $3.50 and a 20 ounce is $4.50. You can also bring in your own coffee mug, and Fix will fill it for a dollar. Overall, Fix Coffee House’s prices are average with your standard local coffee shop.
The service is good, and so is the coffee. The only two things that can be a problem is the lack of room and a bathroom. But Fix accomplishes what it tries to, simply to provide good coffee.
Fix is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is closed on Sunday.
