Evolving in the music industry is a hard task. Tuesday’s Child appears to be taking small steps at a fast rate to become a bigger pop-punk band.
Two North Greenville University students, Kyle Phillips, sophomore broadcasting, and Brad Loftis, freshman undecided, combine with Mike Simmons and Matt Fleming to form Tuesday’s Child.
Phillips and Loftis started the band with Jacob Johnson, an alumnus of NGU, almost three years ago.

“We had been playing music together for a long time so we decided to give a run at being a band,” said Phillips.
The original name of the band was Acacia, but many bands already owned that name. They decided to come up with their own and became Tuesday’s Child.
The name “Tuesday’s Child” came about one day when the four guys were talking about their birthdays. It just happened that all their birthdays fell on a Tuesday, hence the name Tuesday’s Child.
The members of Tuesday’s Child are all dedicated and passionate about music. Fleming is the lead vocalist and also plays the guitar. The whole band collaborates on music, but Fleming writes most of the songs, including the song, “Shakespeare” for their first CD.

“I was on the way to practice and it just came to me,” Fleming said.

Loftis plays the drums while Phillips leads on guitar and Simmons strums on bass.
Simmons is the newest edition to the band. He commented that it was hard to be the new band member, because his old band had left him in a bad place.
“But these guys are so good to me and understand me. They’re a good Christian influence especially,” said Simmons.

From Friday, Feb. 19 through Sunday, Feb. 21, Tuesday’s Child recorded their first album at Virtuo Sound Studios in Canton, Ga.
The album, which is still unnamed, holds seven songs.

Phillips said before the recording, “I am very excited about our new song, Don’t Stop. It has great potential and I can’t wait to hear it produced.”

After day one in Canton, Loftis said, “I really liked recording in the studio, but I was glad when the first day was over. It was tough.”

Tuesday’s Child is planning a CD release party at The Channel very soon. Their next show will be at The Channel on Wednesday, Mar. 10 at 7 p.m. They will be playing the show with Children 18:3. Cost at door is $10.
