Women of all ages, including several students and faculty from North Greenville University, attended the Just Give Me Jesus revival meetings held at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville on March 19-20. About 20 students from NGU attended and volunteered at the meetings during the weekend.
Just Give Me Jesus is hosted by Angel Ministries, which is based out of Raleigh, N.C.
Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, started the Just Give Me Jesus conferences in 2000. Besides being the founder of Angel Ministries, Lotz is also an award-winning author and inspiring speaker.
The meetings kicked off on Friday, March 19, with a worship session led by Fernando Ortega. Ortega led the women in singing a blend of old hymns and modern worship songs. Stephanie Seefeldt also provided worship music throughout the meetings.
Lotz spoke in the first session of the weekend about the power of the cross. She told the crucifixion story in a powerful, descriptive way and reminded those in attendance just how important the cross still is. Many of those in attendance responded to the message and were saved.
Doors opened at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the meetings once again started with a worship session. Lotz held the second session and spoke on the topic of heaven.
In the third session, Jill Briscoe taught from Matthew 6:9-13 and spoke on how to combine prayer and worship. Briscoe has been leading prayer for the Just Give Me Jesus conferences for the past eight years.
After taking a break for lunch, the meetings reconvened with more singing. Lotz led another session, entitled “Learning to Listen to God’s Voice,” in which she shared her methods for studying the Bible effectively.
The meetings ended Saturday night with Lotz leading the last session and teaching on the characteristics of Jesus.
Ruth McWhite, director of women’s ministries at NGU, helped coordinate many of the volunteers for the weekend. She was excited about attending her first Just Give Me Jesus revival.
“I would encourage girls to come and sit under Anne’s teaching, because the first time I heard her 16 years ago, it gave me a passion to know the Lord and to know His Word like I had never had before,” McWhite said.
The weekend of meetings allowed women from all over the Southeast to come together and grow in their spiritual walks.
