In her first year as head softball coach at North Greenville University, Sarah Hall has signed three prospects for the spring of 2011.

High school seniors Brittany Dunn from Travelers Rest, Kelsey Burgess from Charlotte, N.C. and Kirsten Brown from Greenville. make up Hall’s first recruiting class at North Greenville, and in an interview on www.ngcrusaders.com she said that she is very excited about the talented signees.

“I feel good about moving forward,” said Hall. “Brittany, Kirsten and Kelsey will be the foundation for a great recruiting class and a successful future.”

The three prospects have each accumulated their fair share of accolades over the course of their high school careers, and coach Hall will be looking for similar production in the future for North Greenville.

Burgess will be starting at shortstop in her last year at Gaston Christian School in Charlotte, N.C.

Brown is a seven-year starter at Woodmont High School in Greenville, S.C. and can play catcher or shortstop. Brown is no stranger to awards, receiving the team’s Defensive Player of the Year award in 2007, and the team’s Offensive Player of the Year award in both 2006 and 2008. She was also named to the Western Conference Class AAA All-Region team in 2009.

Dunn, who is a Greenville local, played her high school softball at Travelers Rest High, where she has spent six years on the varsity team. Dunn is a very talented pitcher, throwing a no hitter in 2007, and a perfect game in 2006. She was also named to the Class AAA All-Region team in 2006 and 2009.

Dunn, a future biology major at North Greenville, said she wanted to be a part of a winning team and believes that coach Hall has the players’ best interests in mind.
“I was really impressed with how the softball team is growing and becoming a better program,” said Dunn. “I would love to be a part of a team with winning capability.”

Dunn said that she plans to bring a lot to the softball program in her first year at North Greenville, including a sense of humor.

“I will bring some experience to the team,” said Dunn. “I also think that I will be able to bring a laugh or two.”

This recruiting class is just a start, but Hall hopes that these talented signees will make an immediate impact in 2011.

“The girls we signed last year greatly contributed this season, and we hope these girls and other signees will have the same impact when they put on a North Greenville uniform,” said Hall.
