A new year. A new start. A new chapter.
Whether entering North Greenville this fall as an incoming freshman or a returning senior, every student has a chance to make a difference on campus. Rekindle your relationships with familiar faces and break out of your comfort zone to meet new individuals. By enriching your friendships with others, your experience at NGU will be totally transformed.
Stepping onto the NGU campus for the first time as an official student, Emma West has a multitude of expectations for her next four years in college. She is majoring in early childhood education and desires to be a teacher who is not afraid to stand up for her values. Her aspiration during her years in college is to grow in her knowledge and her spiritual walk, and she fully intends to live this principle out within her life. West noticed that the people of NGU were filled with a happiness that only Christ can give as well as a genuine kindness for others, and she instantly felt welcomed as a new student.
With a year of college already under his belt, sophomore Jordon Helms is entering the new school year with excitement for what is to come. He is currently an inter-disciplinary major with a focus on linguistics and Spanish. Helms stresses the importance of every student making an effort to plug into a local church and discourages those who decide to just take four years off. No matter how uncomfortable you may feel in visiting a new church, he reminded us that Christ communicates to us His truth on the subject in Hebrews 10:25, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
As a junior here at NGU, Daniel Dickard knows the impact the university has made on his life. His heart’s desire for the future is to be active in the ministry as a pastor, and he is currently majoring in Christian studies to fulfill this calling.
“I want to live an obedient life that is controlled by the Lord, so that in all that I do, others don’t see me, they see Christ living through me,” said Dickard. In your time at NGU, learn to take this impacting message to heart. Let Jesus infiltrate every single aspect of your life, no matter the cost, and He will show you great and mighty things throughout His ultimate plan.
In her last year of college, senior Casey Ditty wants to encourage all students to “not let the surroundings of the school make you comfortable.” Despite being part of a Christian university, believers should never lose the passion of Christ inside of them. Ditty has learned that it is impossible to grow in God’s word if you become complacent in your own life. As an interdisciplinary major and a member of Joyful Sound, Ditty is looking forward to the new year along with all that Christ has in store for her.
With many opportunities throughout campus, students have the chance to gain an unforgettable four years filled with excitement and preparation for the future. As believers in Christ, we are called to give nothing less than our very best for Him, so go and be a difference maker this year, impacting the world with the gifts God has given you.
