After a 2009 season that witnessed North Greenville volleyball  experience great success, the 2010 squad is poised for a breakout season.

In the spring of 2009, Greg Mosely was hired to lead the program on its rise to the top.

“We have a lot of returners with a great deal of talent,” said Missy Ragsdal senior health and wellness. “We have such a great foundation to build a winning tradition upon.”

The motto for this year’s team can be found in Philippians 2:2-3.

“One mind, one spirit, one purpose, one team,” said Mosely.

Top returners are Kaitlyn Pierce, junior  health and wellness, Kaitlyn Harris, junior sport management, and Kayla O’ Kelley, junior health and wellness, as well as Anjelica Wilcox, sophomore health and wellness. O’ Kelley led the team in 2009 with 209 kills, Pierce was fourth on the list with 151 and Wilcox was fifth with 148. Pierce and O’ Kelley will join forces once again to form a dominant defensive frontcourt as the two combined for 182 blocks last season.

Another goal for this team is to have a minimum winning percentage of .501, which the North Greenville volleyball program has not reached in 10 years. Other goals set by coach Mosely are to have his team playing in December when the NCCAA National Tournament begins and to win 20 matches throughout the course of the year.

“Our fans can expect this team to work hard, have great energy, overcome difficult situations and be in good enough shape to play at their highest level,” said Mosely. “They should be fun to watch.”

The Lady Crusaders open the 2010 schedule in a tournament at Anderson University Sept. 3-4 in. The first home match of the season will be Sept. 15 against Piedmont College in Hayes Gymnaisum.
